The fig is a very common fruit in hot seasons and it is very exquisite to eat it in its natural state, cooked in preparations such as jams or in syrup. This fig jam recipe is ideal for hot days, since it is eaten fresh right out of the fridge and provides energy due to its natural sugar content. In addition, it is also common to enjoy it at Easter in some Latin American countries.

Ingredients to make Fig Dulce:

  • 1 kilogram of figs
  • 1 kilogram of sugar
  • 10 milliliters of water
  • 1 lemon

How to make Fig Candy:

  1. Wash the figs very well under the running tap for about 3 minutes and drain them well.
  2. Remove the tips and cut them into 4 parts each.
  3. In a small pot over high heat, pour the water and the figs until it starts to boil.
  4. Pour the sugar and the lemon juice on top of the figs and stir well so that everything is integrated.
  5. Lower the heat to medium to low, cook for about 40 to 60 minutes, stirring constantly so it doesn’t stick to the bottom.
  6. The texture of the fig jam depends on each person’s taste, you can leave the pieces of figs whole or crush them while you cook them to have something more like a jam.
  7. Sterilize a glass jar and leave the fig candy inside to cool.
  8.  Put it in the fridge and voila! It is that easy to make this delicious treat.
