Feijoada is a typical dish of Brazilian and Portuguese cuisine and is characterized by having black beans and a mixture of pork as main ingredients. Its main accompaniment is white rice and lemons or oranges are used as a dressing. Let’s see the ingredients of our recipe and the step by step that we teach you to prepare the feijoada in an easy way.
Ingredients to make Feijoada:
- 150 grams of pork bacon
- 500 grams of pork ribs
- 8 units of pork sausages
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 units of white onion
- 3 units of red tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon of garlic paste
- 1 pinch of Cumin
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 pinch of black pepper
- 250 grams of black beans soaked from the previous day
How to make Feijoada:
- The first step to make our easy feijoada recipe is to pre-list all the ingredients.
- Take the black beans to a deep pot, removing the water where we hydrated them and adding new water until they are completely covered.
- Add a little salt and dried thyme, ideally we cook it in a pressure cooker, but if you don’t have it, you can cook it in a conventional pot, keeping in mind that the cooking of this ingredient will take longer.
- In a refractory place the ribs in medium pieces without the need to add oil or any additional ingredient.
- Take them to the oven at 180ºC for 20-30 minutes, or until you see that the ribs are golden, ideally they cook in their own fat.
- Bring a skillet to medium heat and add the white onion and the diced tomato to make the base sauce for the feijoada.
- Add a little dried thyme, salt and pepper to taste.
- Add a little garlic paste to taste and mix the sauce ingredients well.
- Add the bacon cut into thin strips as shown in the photograph, let it brown with the sauce, this will give a lot of flavor to the Brazilian recipe.
- Add the sliced sausages and mix very well with the rest of the soffit base.
- Add the soffit that we made in the previous step to the pot where we have the black beans already cooked, and we will have the feijoada almost ready.
- Let the preparation cook over low heat for 10-15 minutes so that the flavors are concentrated.
- Serve the feijoada with white rice and, if you wish, with orange or lemon peels, add the oven-roasted pork ribs on top and it will be ready to eat.
- You can also accompany this typical Brazilian recipe with spicy mojo or pork rinds.
