Falafel Recipe with Yogurt Sauce

Falafel is a well-known dish made from chickpeas and spices that has its origin in the East. These vegetarian croquettes are usually accompanied with a yogurt and cucumber sauce known as taztziki, light and above all very fresh. Go ahead and learn how to make falafel and surprise everyone at home with an original dish.

Ingredients to make Falafel with yogurt sauce:

  • falafel
  • 250 grams of dried chickpeas
  • 1 unit of Onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 unit of Egg
  • 3 sprigs of parsley
  • 3 sprigs of coriander
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • ½ teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • yogurt sauce
  • 1 unit of natural yogurt
  • ½ unit of Cucumber
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 sprig of fresh dill
  • 1 pinch of pepper
  • 1 pinch of salt

How to make Falafel with yogurt sauce:

1 Before starting the preparation of the famous falafel, we must soak the chickpeas the day before.

2 On the day of preparation, we will start by draining the chickpeas and making a paste by grinding them together with the onion, garlic, spices and the egg.

3 Next, add the yeast and leave the mixture to rest for about two hours in the fridge.

4 After two hours, heat a saucepan with abundant oil and proceed to fry the falafel portions until they are browned on all sides, between 6-8 minutes. Shape each falafel into a ball, kneading the mixture carefully.

5 To prepare the yogurt sauce you just have to mix all the ingredients and let it rest for a couple of hours in the fridge.

6 With everything ready you can serve the delicious chickpea falafel with yogurt sauce, you can eat them alone or prepare a sandwich with pita bread.
