Easy Petit Gateau Recipe

FoodsDiary By FoodsDiary

The petit gateau or coulant is, as its name implies, a small cake. What makes this dessert so special is the fact that it is a chocolate cake that is crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. It is a sophisticated cake, of French origin and perfect to surprise on Valentine’s Day or on any other special occasion, especially it is indicated for those who love chocolate.

Ingredients to make easy Petit gateau:

  1. 150 grams of dark chocolate
  2. 100 grams of margarine without salt
  3. 100 grams of Sugar (½ cup)
  4. 50 grams of wheat flour
  5. 3 units of whole egg
  6. 1 unit of egg yolk
  7. 1 dessert spoon of Yeast
  8. 1 pinch of salt

How to make Petit gateau easy:

  • The first thing we have to do to prepare this easy petit gateau is to gather all the ingredients and preheat the oven to 250-300º C, because it is very important that it is very hot when baking the chocolate cake.
  • Next, put the butter and chopped chocolate in a bowl and melt everything in the microwave on high power for 30 seconds. After that time, stir it well so that everything melts completely and put it back in the microwave if necessary.
  • The next step you have to do is beat the sugar very well with the eggs and egg yolks, until the mixture is very creamy and velvety (we recommend that you do it with an electric mixer). Then add the melted butter and chocolate and mix well.
  • Little by little add the sifted flour and yeast and stir well. To finish, add a pinch of salt, so that the flavors are balanced.
  • Then grease and flour a muffin tin or 6 ramekins and fill them with the petit gateau dough without filling them completely.
  • Then lower the oven temperature to 180°Cand bake these coulants for about 10-12 minutes. You’ll know they’re done when they’re cooked on the outside, but not cooked on the inside.
  • Next, carefully unmold the easy petit gateau by turning the molds upside down, pushing a little, and turning them by hand until they fall on the plate.
  • We suggest that you serve them sprinkled with icing sugar on top and accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You will see that the combination is exquisite!
