How to make Dulce de leche with condensed milk:

  • If you wonder how to make Arequipa with condensed milk, this recipe is for you. Making dulce de leche is very simple, since it is nothing more than toasted condensed milk. So, to start with the preparation, first remove the label from the jars so that there is no trace of paper left on it and place it inside the pressure cooker. The pressure cooker, also known as a speed cooker and pressure cooker, is a pot that cooks under pressure. To achieve this, it has a hermetic lid, which allows it to reach temperatures higher than 100º C., and in turn, this speeds up the cooking times of the food, reducing them up to three and four times. In case you don’t have one of these pots, don’t worry, follow the same procedure and simply increase the cooking time.

Tip: to prevent the can from moving during cooking, you can insert a kitchen towel inside and place the can on top.

  • Remove the jars and add milk with sugar in a pot over medium heat. Add vanilla and stir.
  • Close the pot and cook for about 2-3 hours over low heat, in this way it will gradually boil and thus the dulce de leche will form. You must go removing little by little until it thickens.
  • If you prepare the dulce de leche in a normal pot, you should bring the water to a boil over high heat, then lower the flame to a minimum to maintain a constant boil.
  • After these three hours prepare, let the condensed milk cool down. Ready to eat!
