Dominican Sweet Potato Recipe

  3. 1 cup evaporated milk
  4. 1 pinch of salt

  6. 1 teaspoon of powdered cloves
  7. ½ cup of sugar (the measure can vary according to taste)
  8. 100 grams of raisins (optional)
  9. 100 grams of grated or toasted coconut (optional)
  10. 1 pinch ground nutmeg (or freshly grated)

How to make Dominican Sweet Potato Dulce:

  • Prepare your work table with all the necessary elements to prepare this Dominican -style sweet potato. First: wash, boil and mash the sweet potato to obtain a puree. Second: measure all the ingredients and place them in containers. Finally, have the utensils that you may need during the execution of this recipe.

  • Mix the sweet potato puree with the coconut milk, salt, sugar, cloves, cinnamon and evaporated milk.

  • Pour the contents into a saucepan and add the raisins (raisins). Cook medium-low heat. Stir constantly, so you avoid sticking to the bottom. Wait until the mixture thickens, then remove it from the heat.
  • Once this delicious Dominican sweet potato con leche is ready, pour it into another saucepan or metal container. Stir constantly until cool to room temperature. You choose if you consume it at the moment or refrigerate it.
