Ingredients to make dates and bacon empanada:

  • 1 sheet of empanada dough
  • 100 grams of Bacon
  • 2 handfuls of Dates
  • 3 handfuls of grated cheese
  • 1 unit of Egg

How to make Dates and Bacon Empanada:

Here we have the ingredients for this cheese and dates empanada. We buy the bacon already cut into strips, as well as the cheese, which is grated. The dates will have to be pitted. The dough is a confection of dough for empanada, although you can also try to prepare this dough for Galician empanada.

Trick: We preheat the oven from the beginning, to 200 degrees.

Unroll the dough and spread it on the same baking paper on a tray. We will arrange the ingredients in one half of the base, which we will then fold on itself to make the empanada. We will make the first layer with dates, which we will have previously pitted. Add the bacon strips on the dates. The third layer of this delicious bacon and date empanada will be made with grated cheese. Let’s be generous, it will be delicious. We fold the dough on itself and close it to form the empanada. Beat the egg in a bowl and use it to brush the top of the empanada. In the center of it we make a one centimeter hole, following the instructions of the dough mark. Another option is to make small holes with a fork all over the surface. We bake the cheese, bacon and dates empanada for 10-15 minutes at a temperature of 200 degrees, and it’s ready! Serve the dates and bacon pie hot and accompany it with red wine. As an accompaniment, a vegetable ratatouille suits you wonderfully. Take advantage!
