You cannot imagine how GOOD this Cuban sandwich is. I could venture to say that, until now, for me it is the king of sandwiches. This sandwich has been in a few culinary movies, and although it has a lot of ingredients (for a snack), it’s worth making and eating!

This heavyweight of the loin sandwiches is going to leave all your guests speechless and above all, it is going to make you want to eat it every week. Follow the step by step to prepare this spectacular Cuban sandwich.

Ingredients to make Cuban sandwich:

  • 4 fillets of Head or pork shoulder
  • 2 units of large pickles in vinegar
  • 4 slices of cheese to melt
  • 2 slices of sweet ham
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 2 units of baguette bread
  • 1 tablespoon of Mustard
  • 1 tablespoon of butter

To marinate the meat

  • 1 unit of Orange
  • 1 lemon unit
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 handful of mint
  • 1 handful of coriander
  • 1 dessert spoon of lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon of orange zest

How to make Cuban sandwich:

We gather all the ingredients to make the Cuban sandwich. The duration of the recipe depends on the type of piece of meat you choose. We have macerated the head fillets for 2 hours, but if you use a whole piece, it is necessary to macerate for at least 12 hours so that it takes on all the aromas. To make the marinade, in a bowl or deep plate, mix the juice of one orange, the juice of one lemon, the grated orange and lemon, the filleted garlic, the salt and the spices. Add the chopped fresh coriander and chopped fresh mint or mint. Add the pork fillets and let them macerate for 2-3 hours, covering them with transparent paper. After the maceration time we proceed to assemble the Cuban sandwich: we spread the bread with mustard.

At the same time, we remove the meat from the marinade, drain it and cook it in a pan with a little olive oil until golden brown. We add the meat to the Cuban sandwich, followed by the pickles. For this sandwich we have used the large pickles that you see in the image, which have a sweet touch. Next we add the sweet ham and the cheese. We close with the other slice and spread the outer parts of the bread with butter. We pass the loin sandwich on the grill or in the pan over medium heat until browned on both sides. We can press so that it is toasted and the cheese melts.
