Crispy battered cod recipe

Learn to prepare a delicious dish of crispy battered cod. This type of fried fish is classic during the Easter season, although the truth is that you can prepare and enjoy it during any season.

The best thing about this tempura battered cod recipe is that it is a super easy recipe to make and that you can eat it both hot and cold, which makes it ideal to take on a picnic or to the beach.

Ingredients to make Crispy Battered Cod:

  • 500 grams of salted cod
  • 1 bunch of Parsleys
  • 100 grams of flour
  • 1 teaspoon of Royal Powder
  • 50 milliliters of beer
  • olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves

How to make Crispy Battered Cod:

  1. Gather all the ingredients on the workbench. If you have bought the cod without desalination, you can do it by letting it soak for two or three days, changing the water every 12 hours.
  2. Cut the cod pieces as desired, although since it is a battered cod recipe, I recommend cutting into slightly rectangular cubes.
  3. Now we have to prepare the batter station. To do this, start by finely chopping the garlic and mixing this with half the flour, the baking powder and the beer. Use some rods to get the mixture to be perfectly homogeneous.
  4. Go adding the rest of the flour until you get a slightly thick consistency.
  5. Add a little parsley to the mixture and reserve the rest for the final decoration. To get a crispy battered cod it is very important that this mixture is perfect. Beer is precisely what gives it that crunchy touch, although if you want you can also use sparkling water.
  6. Another option to make this recipe suitable for celiac is to change the flour for chickpea flour, the flavor will be great and it will be just as crunchy.
  7. Heat a deep frying pan with enough oil and while it heats up, bathe the cod pieces in the tempura that we have made. The fish tacos must be completely impregnated with the mixture.
  8. Fry the cod for about two minutes on each side, checking that it is golden and crisp. Remove the pieces to a plate with absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
  9. Serve the freshly made crispy battered cod pieces and enjoy. This type of fried fish can be eaten both hot and cold, although personally, I recommend eating it hot and accompanying it with vegetables such as garlic broccoli or baked potatoes.
