If there is a dessert that stands out above the rest for being popular in almost all the cuisines of the world, that is the flan. This sweet is usually prepared with eggs and cooked in the oven, however, today there are many ways to prepare it without altering its flavor. For this reason, in this article we show a simple recipe for condensed milk flan without an oven, which is cooked over low heat in a bain-marie, placing the mold in a larger pot. It could also be made in a slow cooker in as little as 15 minutes.

You will see that this flan is just as good as the typical flan made in the oven, so if you do not have this appliance, without a doubt, this is a perfect option. Keep reading and discover with us how to make condensed milk flan without an oven.

Ingredients to make condensed milk flan without oven:

  • 6 eggs
  • 500 milliliters of condensed milk
  • 500 milliliters of milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 100 grams of sugar to make the caramel

How to make condensed milk flan without oven:

  1. Put the sugar in a pan to make the caramel. Let it brown over medium heat, and when it’s golden, remove it from the heat.
  2. Cover the entire bottom of the mold with the liquid caramel, moving it so that it is distributed along the walls of the mold. Put the mold in the fridge while you prepare the no-bake condensed milk flan.
  3. Place the eggs in a bowl and beat them.
  4. Add the condensed milk and the normal milk and beat it all with some rods or a mixer robot.
  5. You can make your own condensed milk with this recipe.
  6. Add a spoonful of vanilla essence and mix.
  7. Strain the mixture by passing it through a sieve in case any strips of the egg or impurities remain. Thus, your no-bake condensed milk flan will have a softer texture.
  8. Pour the flan mass into the mold with the caramel. Ours is a 20 cm diameter mold with a hole in the center.
  9. If your mold has a lid, put it on. If not, cover the surface with aluminum foilto prevent the flan from burning. If your mold is like ours, leave the center hole uncovered.
  10. Place the mold in a slightly larger pot, add water until it covers a third of the mold, which corresponds to more or less 3 cm.
  11. Cover the pot with its lid and let it cook over high heat until the water begins to boil.
  12. Then, lower the heat to medium-low and cook the condensed milk flan for 40 minutes.
  13. At 30 minutes, poke it with a toothpick to see if it’s done or needs that extra 10 minutes.
  14. Remember that you can also do this process in an express pot, but with 15 minutes of cooking.
  15. When you see that the flan is ready, turn off the heat.
  16. You can let it cool in the saucepan or take the mold out of the saucepan, let it cool and then put it in the fridge until it is ready or, better, leave it overnight.
  17. When serving, take it out by turning the mold over, so it will have the caramel on top.
  18. As you can see, this no-bake condensed milk flan recipe is easy and results in an incredible dessert.
  19. And if you make it with the pressure cooker, it will be a very quick recipe!
