Colombian Lentils Recipe

It is easy to prepare a homemade Colombian meal if you know how, that is why we offer you this recipe for Colombian lentils that is very easy to prepare and with which you can prepare an exquisite main dish.

They are lentils from Cali that contain nothing more than vegetables and legumes, but if you want, you can add meat, chorizo ​​or other foods of your choice.

Ingredients to make Colombian Lentils:

  • ½ kilogram of large lentils
  • ½ kilogram of Potato chopped into very small squares
  • 1 unit of grated tomato
  • 1½ units of long onion
  • 1 Maggi chicken broth cube
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 pinch of Color (food coloring)
  • 1 jet of oil
  • 1 pinch of salt

How to make Colombian Lentils:

1 The first thing we have to do before starting to cook these Colombian-style lentils is to soak the legumes overnight.

2 The next day, put the lentils in a pressure cooker with the same soaking water (to make them thick) and add the onion, crushed garlic and a little color. Cover the pot and when it boils, cook the lentils from Cali for about 20 minutes.

3 While the Colombian lentil soup is cooking, we make a stew. To do this, chop the onion and garlic very small and add them to a hot pan with a splash of oil. When it is transparent, add the grated tomato and Maggi cube and cook everything for about 5 minutes.

4 Once cooked, the stew is mixed with the lentils and left on the heat for 5 minutes to season. Season with salt if necessary. The chopped potatoes are added to the lentils from Cali approximately 10 minutes before the end of the stew so that they are well cooked.

Then the Colombian lentils will be ready to eat.

Tip: If you want you can fry sausages that have a good flavor and add them.
