Coleslaw Recipe

The American coleslaw, also known as coleslaw, has its origin in the Roman Empire; the dish was introduced in the United States, thus making it one of the most famous salads in the south of this country. This salad consists of combining white or purple cabbage, carrot, vinegar and mayonnaise, coleslaw is the accompaniment to barbecues, sandwiches, fish and chips, etc.

Ingredients to make American Coleslaw:

  • 120 grams of purple cabbage
  • 1 unit of Carrot
  • 100 grams of Mayonnaise
  • 60 milliliters of white wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of pepper

How to make American Coleslaw:

Before making this American recipe, the first step is to get all the ingredients ready. In a skillet over medium heat, add the mustard seeds and sauté for a minute, this in order to activate their flavor. Reserve when ready. Separately, in a bowl mix the mayonnaise, white wine vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper very well until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.

To continue preparing the American salad, in a bowl add the cabbage cut into thin strips, the grated carrot, add the mayonnaise mixture and mix very well. Adjust flavor with salt and pepper. Finally serve the American coleslaw and sprinkle finely chopped chives and mustard seeds. This salad is usually used as a side dish for BBQ.
