Middle Eastern classic, here’s my favorite version. Up the hummus! At this article, we have many hummus recipes and all the variations of this famous preparation, but this time, Oski Molteni shares with us the most traditional recipe, the classic hummus.
Chickpea hummus is a spread that you can serve as a starter with hot pita bread or crackers, it is also a perfect dish for snack time or tapas.
Ingredients to make classic Hummus:
- 250 grams of Chickpeas
- 10 milliliters of lemon juice
- 60 milliliters of olive oil
- 5 grams of Garlic
- 2 grams of salt and pepper
- 1 pinch of Paprika
How to make Classic Hummus:
Hydrate the chickpeas in water for 24 hours, or overnight. The day of preparation, boil for 20 minutes, strain and reserve.
To make the classic hummus you can also use cooked chickpeas if you don’t have time to make them. Meanwhile, take the garlic, cut off the tip and place on aluminum foil along with a little salt and pepper and olive oil. Cook in oven at 200ºC. A few minutes. To finish, you just have to wait for the garlic to cool and the cooked chickpeas are cold to process and grind everything together with the rest of the ingredients. The result should be a smooth and homogeneous paste. Serve the classic chickpea hummus and decorate by sprinkling with a little paprika as seen in the photo. And if you are a fan of chickpeas, we recommend you try the chickpea burger or the famous Turkish falafel.
