The Christmas thread is a typical Argentine dish that is prepared for Christmas and consists of a rice cake with different ingredients, which can be dressed with cream cheese, mayonnaise, etc.

Ingredients to make Christmas rice thread step by step:

  • 100 grams of chicken breast
  • 100 grams of sweet ham
  • 4 slices of smoked bacon
  • 2 tablespoons of peas
  • 180 grams of white rice
  • 1 piece of carrot
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise

How to make Christmas Rice Thread step by step:

  1. We gather all the ingredients to prepare the Christmas rice thread.
  2. We start by cooking the rice in plenty of boiling water with a little salt. Once cooked, we cool it and reserve.
  3. In another pot, cook the chicken breast with water and a little salt for 15 minutes.
  4. Tip: The cooking time will depend on the manufacturer’s instructions.
  5. Prevent the rice from overflowing so that it stays loose.
  6. In a frying pan, sauté the cooked ham and bacon. In this way, these ingredients will be tastier and, therefore, the Christmas thread as well.
  7. On the other hand, peel and grate the carrot with the help of a grater.
  8. If you don’t have a greater, you can cut it into small squares.
  9. In a bowl mix the ingredients. Thus, we add the rice, the cooked and shredded chicken, the carrot, the sweet ham and the bacon. Season to taste.
  10. Add the peas and dress with 3 or 4 tablesoons of mayonnaise.
  11. You can make homemade mayonnaise so that the Christmas rice thread is 100% made by you, or buy it already prepared.
  12. Put the filling for the rice cake in a bowl shaped like a donut.
  13. And if you don’t have it, you can use a round container with a glass in the center as we have done. Put in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  14. Once you unmold this Christmas rice cake, it will be ready to eat.
