FoodsDiary By FoodsDiary

Ingredients to make Chickpeas with Stewed Cabbage:

  • 1 medium cabbage
  • 150 gr of Castilian chickpeas (from Pedrosillo better)
  • 1 onion
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Sweet paprika (from Vera, essential for me)
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tomato

How to make Chickpeas with Stewed Cabbage:

1 Put the clean and whole vegetables in a pot, add the chickpeas, which have been soaking for at least 12 hours, add hot water (the chickpea is the only legume that is put with hot water, the rest always with cold water) and salt to taste.

2 Let it boil over medium heat for 1 hour and 1/2. In pressure cooker about 30 min.

3 In another casserole we put water with salt, when it starts to boil, we add the split and cleaned cabbage, and let cook for 30 min.

4 Strain and reserve.

5 Put 4-5 tablespoons of oil in a pan, when it starts to heat up, add a heaping teaspoon of paprika, turn carefully so it doesn’t burn, and immediately add the cabbage, and mix.

6 Add the drained chickpeas and integrate them with the cabbage, letting them cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the broth released by the cabbage and chickpeas evaporates.
