Chickpea Burgers Recipe

These vegetarian burgers are made with chickpeas but you can undoubtedly add more ingredients and/or make them with other legumes or cereals to your liking.

Ingredients to make Chickpea Burgers:

  • 150 grams of Chickpeas
  • ½ red bell pepper
  • ½ white onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 5 grams of chopped parsley
  • ½ Lemon
  • 1 jet of olive oil
  • 1 pinch of Paprika
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of pepper

How to make Chickpea Burgers:

1 Before making this vegan chickpea burger recipe, the first step is to get all the ingredients ready. These amounts will give you two hamburgers, so if you want to make more, you just have to multiply the ingredients.

2 In a pot with boiling water, cook the chickpeas (soaked overnight) over medium heat for 40 minutes, until the grain is soft.

Tip: You can also use a jar of already cooked chickpeas and save yourself this step.

3 Process the cooked chickpeas with a pinch of salt, pepper and a little olive oil, until obtaining a smooth paste.

4 Separately, in a frying pan with oil, cook the finely chopped onion, pepper and garlic until they are well fried and then season with salt and pepper.

5 To form the vegan chickpea burgers, mix the vegetables, the paprika, the chickpea paste, the chopped parsley and add a splash of olive oil and lemon juice. Mix until you obtain dough of manageable consistency.

6 Assemble the chickpea vegetable burgers and reserve in the fridge for at least 1 hour, this in order to obtain an even firmer consistency to be able to fry them well later.

7 After this time, seal the vegan chickpea burgers on both sides in a pan with a splash of olive oil until golden brown.

8 Serve the chickpea patties and enjoy. You can accompany them with arugula and a reduction of balsamic vinegar, for example. This dish is very healthy and is ideal for vegetarians or vegans
