Ingredients to make Tequeños with cheese and guava:

  • 500 grams of wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon of butter
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1 liter of oil
  • 250 milliliters of water
  • 200 grams of salty cheese
  • 200 grams of Guava
  • 1 unit of Egg

How to make Cheese and Guava Tequeños:

1 Before making this recipe, the first step is to get all the ingredients ready. It uses candied guava or what is known as a sandwich, which is a paste made from the fruit, very similar to quince.

2 To make the dough, mix the flour with the salt, make a hole in the center and add the warm water, the egg and the melted butter. Mix everything very well until you get a soft and elastic dough.

3 On a floured surface, stretch the dough until it is thin and cut strips 2 cm wide.

4 Cut small strips of cheese and guava to roll them with the dough ribbons until they are very compact. Remember to use a salty fresh cheese, it can be hard white cheese or something similar to feta.

5 Fry the tequeños at medium temperature for 5 minutes until the dough is golden, drain and reserve.

6 Finally, serve the cheese and guava tequeños as an appetizer at the next family gathering and accompany them with other classic starters such as meat balls or fried arepitas.
