Carabinieri Cocktail Recipe

Ingredients to make Carabineros Cocktail:

  • For 4 people:
  • Assorted lettuce leaves
  • 8 carabinieri
  • 25 gr. trout roe
  • ½ avocado
  • 1 leek
  • Water
  • parsley
  • For the sauce:
  • ¼ l. mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of whiskey
  • juice of ½ lime

How to make Carabinieri Cocktail:

  1. Peel the scarlet shrimp, cut them in half lengthwise, leaving them attached at the tail.
  2. Put water in a saucepan, add the leek cut in half, a sprig of parsley and a pinch of salt.
  3. When it starts to boil, add the carabineros.
  4. Cook them for a couple of minutes.
  5. Put the mayonnaise in a bowl, add the whiskey, tomato sauce and lime juice and mix well.
  6. Clean the lettuce, drain it and chop it into fine julienne strips.
  7. Distribute the lettuces in 4 glass bowls.
  8. Peel the avocado, cut it into cubes and add a few to each glass.
  9. Place a couple of carabineros on top and water them with a little sauce.
  10. Garnish with some trout roe.
  11. If you do not have lime juice you can substitute it with orange or lemon juice.
  12. And if you like spicy, you can give it a touch by adding a few drops of Tabasco sauce.
