Butter and cinnamon cookies recipe step by step

Ingredients to make Butter and cinnamon cookies recipe step by step

  • 300 grams of pastry flour
  • 100 grams of butter
  • 1 egg
  • 110 grams of sugar
  • 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon (to taste)

How to make Butter and Cinnamon Cookies step by step:

  • Beat the butter with the sugar until fully integrated. To do this, we recommend that the butter be at room temperature and use electric whisks.
  • Add the egg and continue beating until you get a homogeneous mixture without lumps.
  • Apart, sift the flour with the cinnamon and mix both ingredients. We have used pastry flour, which is none other than wheat flour with yeast (baking powder) included. Thus, if you do not have this type of flour, you can use common flour and add a teaspoon of baking powder.
  • Tip: The amount of cinnamon is to taste, so if you want your cookies to have a lot of flavor, add a few more teaspoons.
  • Add the flour little by little to the mixture and integrate with a spatula. When you can’t mix more with the spatula, knead with your hands. If you consider it necessary, add a little more flour, since the result should be butter and cinnamon cookie dough that does not stick to your hands.
  • Shape into a ball, cover with a clean cloth and let the cinnamon cookie dough rest in the fridge for half an hour.
  • Stretch the dough with a rolling pin and cut the cookies with the mold that you like the most. To prevent the shortbread and cinnamon cookie dough from sticking to the table, sprinkle flour both on the surface and on your hands and on the rolling pin.
  • Place the cookies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and sprinkle a little sugar on top. Preheat the oven to 180ºC with heat up and down.
  • Bake the shortbread and cinnamon cookies for 20 minutes. Depending on the type of oven, they may take more or less, so we recommend being aware. Also, depending on whether you like them more or less crunchy, the time can also vary.
  • Let cool and serve the cinnamon butter cookies sprinkling more cinnamon on top or leaving them as is. As you can see, the recipe is very simple and we assure you that the result is spectacular, the cookies are delicious! The number of cookies will depend on the size of the mounds, as we used small mounds; we got around 40 cookies, ideal to eat during a snack accompanied by a chocolate milkshake or a good coffee.
