Ingredients to make Brown Rice Burgers:
- 2 cups of cooked brown rice
- 1 grated carrot
- 1 chopped onion
- 3 tablespoons chopped parsley or cilantro
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of shoyu or soybeans
- breadcrumbs or rice flour
- black pepper to taste
- Salt to taste
- 1 splash of vegetable oil
How to make Brown Rice Burgers:
- Gather the ingredients needed to make these veggie burgers.
- If the brown rice has already been cooked with onions as it was in my case, reduce the amount of onion in this recipe.
- You can also add other ingredients to your liking such as more vegetables and spices such as curry or ginger.
- Tip: If you don’t have cooked brown rice yet, keep in mind that it takes much longer to cook than regular rice.
- Put all the ingredients in a bowl and mix them with your hands. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Tip: If after mixing well the consistency of the dough is too soft to form rice and vegetable burgers, add a little breadcrumbs or for a gluten-free version, rice flour.
- Take portions of dough, mold them with your hands and form the vegan burgers with the thickness that you think.
- Trick: You can make the burgers larger or smaller depending on the amount of dough you take.
- Fry the brown rice burgers over low heat in a frying pan or griddle with very little oil for about 5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
- Serve them freshly made with a cabbage and carrot salad without mayonnaise for example and some homemade bread with easy whole meal flour.

- Tip: You can also bake them if you prefer.
