Ingredients to make Bonito marinated in soy:

  • 750 grams of Bonito
  • 400 grams of tomato on the vine
  • 1 onion
  • 1 glass of soy sauce
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of oregano

How to make Bonito marinated in soy:

  1. To make our bonito tataki, you must clean the fish very well and cut pieces of about 50 grams, removing all the parts with blood. The idea is to get pretty rectangular blocks for an elegant presentation.
  2. When you have it, place the bonito in a bowl along with the minced garlic and soy sauce. Leave marinating for at least 20 minutes in the fridge.
  3. To make the garnish for the tuna marinade, we begin by finely chopping the onion and dicing the tomatoes, without skin or pulp.
  4. To easily peel tomatoes there is a process called “blanching”. This consists of putting the tomatoes in boiling water for 10-15 seconds and then placing them in ice water to cut the cooking.
  5. Next, heat a pan with oil to sauté the onion. When it starts to change color, add the tomato and continue cooking for 4 minutes and add the oregano.
  6. With the garnish ready and after the resting time with the marinade, we drain the fish and heat the pan well.
  7. When it is hot, cook the bonito marinated for a couple of seconds on each side, sealing the edges and leaving the raw center. In this way we achieve the perfect presentation of the famous tataki.
  8. If you have any doubts, you can consult the salmon tataki recipe.
  9. When presenting the dish, we can cut each taco into slices to expose the raw center, on top of the tomato and onion garnish and some salt flakes.
