Bolillo recipe with pork filling

In Mexico we call these dishes “cakes”, in other places they call them “sandwiches” or “sandwiches”, in any case they can be prepared with a wide variety of bread styles and are characterized by being very simple in their preparation, by combining flavors that result in a great dish, simple, practical and very versatile.

This time, we bring you a Mexican cake that is very easy to make and, for this, we will use a bolillo-style bread and fill it with a rich and soft pork meat. In this way, the result will be a spectacular bolillo stuffed with pork, perfect for breakfast and very complete.

Ingredients to make Bolillo with pork filling:

  • 4 pieces of Bolillo
  • 400 grams of pork leg
  • 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • 4 tablespoons of ground beans
  • 2 pieces of red tomato
  • ½ piece of Onion
  • 1 piece of avocado
  • ½ piece of lettuce

To begin, we carefully strip the lettuce and, once the leaves are separated, wash it very well and place it in a container with water, in which we will add a few drops of disinfectant for vegetables. Let the lettuce rest for 5 minutes, then drain the water and reserve the vegetables.

On the other hand, in a frying pan with hot oil, fry the pork and, once ready, remove it from the heat and reserve it for a moment to continue with the preparation of the Mexican cakes.

To make the stuffed bolillo faster and easier, we have used marinated pork ham. However, if you want to use another type of pork, you can consult the pork loin cake recipe.

While the pork meat is cooking, we take the onion and the red tomato and slice them into thin slices, as we can see in the following image. On the other hand, we take the bolillo, we cut it in half and on one side we spread a tablespoon of mayonnaise, while on the other we spread a tablespoon of ground beans. Now, we place the fried pork pieces on the side of the bolillo that has the ground beans.  Look at the photo to make your Mexican cake in the same way.

Next, we place the thin slices of red tomato and onion on the pork meat, and on the part that has mayonnaise we add slices of avocado. It should be noted that this fruit contains high doses of vitamin E, as well as omega 3 and essential minerals such as magnesium or potassium, so including it in our diet is highly recommended.

Finally, we place the lettuce on the tomato and onion, and put the lid that has mayonnaise and avocado on it to close the bolillo stuffed with pork meat.

Now we place the Mexican cake on the hot griddle and let it brown for a moment, turning it over to heat it evenly on both sides.
