How to make Blackberry Cream Cheese Tamales:

In the following image you can see the ingredients that we will need to prepare these delicious blackberry tamales with cream cheese. We are going to start the Mexican recipe by placing the dried corn husks in a container with enough water. Let them soak for 15 minutes to soften them and, once soft, remove them from the water and drain them.

On the other hand, we take the butter, place it in a deep bowl and begin to beat it until we obtain a creamy consistency with our own hands.

Once the vegetable shortening is smooth, we add the nixtamalized flour together with the baking powder and, again, we integrate these ingredients to continue with the preparation of the sweet tamales.

When the previous ingredients are well integrated, we add the sugar and mix perfectly so that the blackberry tamales with cream cheese are perfect.

On the other hand, mix the jam together with the cream cheese, until obtaining a homogeneous and smooth mixture.

Now, to form the sweet cheese tamales, we take one of the corn husks and fill it with two tablespoons of the dough that we prepared earlier, spreading it all over the inside. Later, we add a little of the mixture of jam and cream cheese and wrap the leaf, forming our tamale.

We place all the blackberry and cream cheese tamales that we form inside the steamer and close it perfectly so that they cook well. And let the tamales steam for 1 hour and 20 minutes.

After this time, we check if our blackberry and cream cheese tamales are cooked by checking if the dough comes off the sheet easily. We can now enjoy this delicacy and surprise both children and adults with an easy and flavorful Mexican recipe.
