FoodsDiary By FoodsDiary

Ingredients to make Barbastro Crespillos:

  • 6 fresh Swiss chard leaves
  • 1 unit of Egg
  • 150 grams of flour
  • 15 milliliters of Anise
  • 50 milliliters of milk
  • 90 grams of sugar
  • 2 drops of Vanilla Essence
  • 1 envelope of Raising agent powder

How to make Barbastro Crespillos:

  1. Before beginning with the elaboration of the Barbastro crespillos recipe, we present the ingredients that we need.
  2. In a bowl, beat the egg with the raising agent and 3/4 of the sugar. We will see that the beaten egg rises as if it were to the point of snow. That is the correct point.
  3. Add the milk, the vanilla essence and the anise, and beat again. Now little by little we are adding the flour and integrating it until there are no lumps left and the dough is semi-liquid but uniform.
  4. Cut the chard so that they are of a size that we can fry in the pan, wash and drain. Soak the chard leaves in the mixture(they are well smeared on both sides).
  5. Fry the battered chard leaves in the respell dough obtained in a frying pan with olive oil and, when golden brown, drain them on a plate lined with absorbent paper.
  6. We serve the Barbastro crespillos in a bowl with sugar on top. Ready to enjoy the vegetarian dessert!
