Baked Torrijas Recipe

Ingredients to make Torrijas in the oven:

  • 400 grams of French bread or mold from the day before
  • 2 cups of Milk (480 milliliters)
  • 3 units of Eggs
  • 150 grams of Sugar (¾ cup)
  • 1 dessert spoon of cinnamon
  • 1 unit of Lemon
  • 1 unit of Orange
  • 120 grams of Strawberries
  • 1 pinch of vanilla essence

How to make Torrijas in the oven:

  • Our first step to make this special recipe for Easter is to prepare the ingredients.
  • Bring the milk, orange peel and lemon, cinnamon and vanilla essence to a pot. Leave on the fire until it boils and remove immediately. It is important that the citrus skin does not contain white parts since these can make the final result bitter.
  • Once we remove our flavored milk add the sugar and mix well until it is completely dissolved. This milk preparation is the main ingredient in French toast.
  • Next, we are going to make a station to coat the French toast. To do this, we place a bowl with the beaten eggs and in another we add the flavored milk, it is important that the latter is cold.
  • First we pass the first slice through the flavored milk; we must turn it around with a fork so that the bread is well soaked.
  • After the flavored milk, we pass the bread soaked in the egg and we impregnate both sides well again.
  • Take the bread Torrijas to a previously greased oven plate and bake at 180º degrees until golden brown.
  • Serve our homemade French toast bathing with a little flavored milk on top and if you wish, some sliced ​​strawberries will go very well on the plate if you want it for breakfast or dinner.
