Ingredients to make Baked French Fries without oil:
For the fries:
- 1 egg (the white)
- 1 teaspoon paprika (powdered)
- 1 teaspoon pepper (freshly ground is best)
- 2 potatoes (medium or large)
- 1 pinch of salt (to taste)
- 1 sheet of baking paper (butcher paper)
For the avocado pesto sauce (optional):
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves
- ½ large ripe avocado
- 2 garlic cloves (crushed)
- 2 tablespoons of pine nuts (or merey, walnuts, almonds and sesame)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 3 tablespoons of water (optional)
- 25 grams of grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 1 pinch of salt (to taste)
How to make Baked French Fries without Oil:
Let’s prepare the avocado pesto first! Add all the ingredients for the sauce in the blender or processor of your choice. Remember that this is optional, since in reality we can accompany the recipe for baked fries without oil with any sauce.
Blend the ingredients until you get a homogeneous paste. If you prefer a thinner consistency, you can add a little water. Do it little by little, using a spoon until you reach the desired point. Booking.
Wash and dry the potatoes very well. Remove the skin with a potato slicer or conventional knife. Cut them into sticks, just as you usually do to prepare French fries. After 10 minutes, remove the baked fries from the oven and remove the baking paper. It sticks a bit at first but it will be easy to separate them. The mixture that we prepare with the egg white serves to prevent them from sticking to the paper and also gives them that crispy texture.
Again, place the potatoes in the baking dish but without the paper. Bake for an additional 15 minutes or until golden brown. Crispy surprise!
Tip: Remember that each oven has a different heat intensity, therefore the cooking times change.
