Ingredients to make Baked Ham and Cheese Toast:

• 4 slices of country bread

• 2 onions

• 1 dessert spoon of meat concentrate (Bovril)

• 1 splash of extra virgin olive oil

• 200 grams of smoked Scamorza cheese

• 150 grams of Serrano ham

• 1 splash of white wine

How to make Baked Ham and Cheese Toasts:

To prepare our Serrano ham and cheese toasties we start by peeling the onions and julienne them (into strips). Put a splash of olive oil in a frying pan, put it on the heat and when it is hot add the onion, stirring from time to time and when it begins to turn transparent add a splash of white wine and a tablespoon of Bovril. Mix well and let cook until the wine has evaporated and the onion is soft and caramelized. We booked.

Tip: If you don’t have meat concentrate you can use half a bouillon cube, Perris sauce or a tablespoon of honey.

While we make the onion, we divide the cheese and the ham into cubes and reserve. Once it is ready, arrange the slices of bread and distribute the caramelized onion among the four. Cover with cheese cubes and put the ham cubes on top.

Tip: You can substitute the Scamorza cheese for any other that melts well, such as mozzarella, emmental, Gouda…

Put the ham and cheese toasts in the oven preheated to 180ºC and bake for about 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted. We turn off, serve the toasts and enjoy warm! Be careful not to burn yourself with the melted cheese!

Tip: Put a sheet of baking paper on the oven tray to prevent the melted cheese from dirtying it.
