This recipe will be enjoyed by adults and children as it has everything: it is quick to make, easy to prepare, economical, nutritious and… Fun! Everyone can get together to make this tasty baked sandwich cake. You only need: sliced bread, ham, cheese, milk and eggs. Oh! And salt and pepper to taste.
The steps to follow to know how to make a giant sandwich? Super easy and fun! In a mold, assemble several floors with the ingredients. Then you pour the egg, milk, salt and pepper mixture over the sandwich. You bake and… Let’s eat!
Ingredients to make Giant Baked Sandwich:
- 1 package of sliced bread
- 200 grams of white cheese (in slices)
- 200 grams of York Ham (in slices)
- 4 Eggs
- ½ liter of milk
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 pinch of pepper
How to make Giant Baked Sandwich:
Order the ingredients you need to make this giant baked sandwich. Remove the crusts from the bread, preferably with a serrated knife. Prepare a tray that can be used for baking. Grease the container, bottom and walls and reserve. You can use oil, butter or margarine to grease. Pre-heat the oven to 200º C. The first step will be to prepare a bed of bread for the rest of the ingredients. Place the slices of bread inside the mold. The number of slices will depend on the size of the container.
Cut a slice into several parts, to cover the walls of the tray. First measure with a slice of bread, and with a knife make a reference mark and then guide yourself and cut. Then, from that first base piece, cut out the remaining pieces. Cover the base of the sliced bread with ham. If you wish, you can double the portion of ham by adding more to the baked sandwich cake.
Spread the cheese over the ham layer. You can be generous with the portions, if it provokes you. Hmm! How delicious is this sandwich for children! Pour the eggs, milk, a pinch of salt and pepper to taste into a tall jar or container. Mix all the ingredients very well, until they are integrated. Use any utensil indicated for this task: manual rods, manual mixer, blender, cocktail shaker, etc.
Trick: If you grind the pepper even better. A grinder, mortar, a spoon or even a stone are worth it. If you use a stone, cover the pepper with a cloth first, before crushing it.
Place loaf pan back on top to seal our baked sandwich cake. Squeeze the bread a little, pressing it down with your hands so that it settles well. Pour the previous mixture on top of the cake, making sure that all the bread is moistened.
Bake the sandwich in the oven for 30 minutes at a temperature of 200º C, with heat from above and below. When there are 5 minutes left, you can place the gratin option.
