This time I am going to tell you in this article how to make homemade colored baked meringues, with all the tricks so that we have perfect, bright and well-dried mini meringues in colours, so that they can last several days without problems. In this case I have used a pink food coloring but you can put the colors you want.

To make good homemade colored meringue sighs, it is important to keep these proportions: 1/3 egg whites, 1/3 white sugar and 1/3 icing sugar. Respecting these proportions together with a good baking, I assure you that you will get some perfect homemade meringues in the oven. But keep reading, because I’ll tell you everything step-by-step so you don’t miss anything.

Ingredients to make colored Meringues in the oven:

  • 2 egg whites L
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 100 grams of white sugar
  • 100 grams of icing sugar
  • 1 drop of pink food coloring or other colors (optional)

How to make colored Meringues in the oven:

  1. To make our homemade colored meringue sighs, we will first weigh the egg whites.
  2. This is a very important step, as this measure will serve as a reference for the other ingredients.
  3. My egg whites have weighed 100 gr, so I will use 100 gr of icing sugar, which we will sift and reserve until the moment of use.
  4. Tip: I have used L eggs, but you can use smaller ones.
  5. Secondly, we will beat the whites together with a pinch of saltwith the help of some electric rods.
  6. When they are almost assembled, gradually add the white sugar (100 gr or the amount that your egg whites have weighed).
  7. Add the sifted icing sugar at once and stir gentlywith a spatula, integrating the sugar well.
  8. Preheat the oven to 100º C.
  9. If you want to dye part of our mini meringues with colors, this is the moment to remove half (or more if you are going to use different colourings) of the resulting glaze.
  10. Put the French meringue in a pastry bagwith a star-shaped nozzle.
  11. Line a tray with baking paper and form small pilesof mini meringues with the pastry bag.
  12. If you want to dyeour meringues with colors, add a drop of pink coloring (or another color), or add a little more if you want a more intense color. Remove until well integrated.
  13. Trick: Preferably use gel food coloring, liquids do not always give good results, in addition to making the homemade meringue more liquid.
  14. Bake the sighs of colored meringues in the oven at 100ºC with heat only below for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  15. Then, turn off the oven and leave them in the oven for about 45 more minutes or until they cool completely, so we can make sure that the mini colored meringues are dry and crunchy.
  16. Tip: If you have two trays, put them both in the oven at the same time, they will be done equally and in the same batch.
  17. Store our colored meringues in the ovenin an airtight glass jar, so they will last more than a week in perfect condition.
  18. The best thing about this recipe is how delicious these homemade baked sighs are. In addition, they are perfect for gifts.
