Baked Beans with Octopus Recipe

It is not necessary to have an impressive pantry to prepare a good seafood stew like these white beans with octopus, because it is made with four things and in all seasons.

Even octopuses can be kept in the freezer (in mine they are never missing), so you have to dare to prepare dishes like this one, which is fantastic.

Legumes, due to their high protein content, could be considered as vegetable meat. If you don’t have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen, canned beans can be used without any problem.

Ingredients to make baked beans with octopus:

  • 1 kilogram of Octopus
  • 300 grams of white beans
  • 4 beautiful ripe tomatoes
  • 1 clove garlic
  • Water to cook the octopus
  • ½ glass of dry white wine
  • ½ small glass of olive oil
  • 1 chili pepper
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon salt

How to make baked beans with octopus:

  1. We put the white beans to soak overnight, preferably in a bowl with cold water.
  2. After this time, drain them and cook them with water, a little salt and a bay leaf for approximately 30 minutes until we see that they are tender.
  3. If we cook the beans in a pressure cooker with 10 minutes it is enough.
  4. If they are canned beans, we will add them to the stew during the last 5 minutes.Next, we cook the octopus.
  5. To do this, we will have a pot of boiling water prepared with a bay leaf and we will give the octopus the three required baths before leaving it immersed in the water for about an hour or until it is tender.
  6. Once cooked, let it drain, chop it and reserve, also reserving 1/2 glass of cooking water.
  7. If you have questions about this particular procedure, you can review the recipe for cooked octopus with photos of all the steps.
  8. Now we are going to prepare the sauce for our plate of beans with octopus, in a saucepan with oil, fry the peeled and crushed garlic together with the julienned onion, without letting it brown.
  9. Add the peeled and chopped tomatoes, mix well and fry for 15 minutes.
  10. Add the chili pepper, the broth that we had reserved and the wine, adjust the salt and let it cook for another 15 minutes.
  11. Add the beans and the octopus and let it finish cooking for 10 minutes so that all the flavors mix well.
  12. After this time you can serve and enjoy a delicious dish of beans with octopus cooked very hot.
