How to make Argentine Beef Empanadas:

  • To start making our Argentine meat empanadas recipe, the first step is to pre-list all the ingredients for its preparation.
  • To make the dough for the empanadas, take the sifted flour (that is, go through a sieve first) to a bowl and add the sugar.
  • Make a crown shape in the bowl with the flour and in the center add the warm water with the butter. Start mixing with the help of a spatula until a malleable dough forms.
  • Knead well with your hands and cover this dough with a clean cloth. Let stand for about 30 minutes.
  • While we let the dough rest, we are going to make the filling for the empanadas. Then we take a pan over medium heat adding a little sunflower oil in it, add the ground meat with a little garlic paste, salt and pepper to taste. Let fry.
  • While the meat is frying, process the onion, tomato and red pepper separately with a mixer or processor.
  • Add these vegetables to the pan and let everything cook for about 10 minutes. Stir to distribute everything evenly. Turn off the heat and reserve the filling.
  • Cook the eggs with water. Let them boil for about 5 minutes and then run them under cold water to peel them more easily.
  • Add the hard-boiled eggs to the meat filling for the Argentine empanadas and mix very well until the ingredients are integrated.
  • Tip: If you want you can add other ingredients such as raisins or olives.
  • With everything ready, the next step is to stretch the dough and make the empanadas. Cut medium-sized circles and place a portion of filling in the center. Then close by making a double as seen in the photo. Paint them with beaten egg and cook in the oven at 180ºC. For approximately 30 minutes.
  • Serve the Argentine meat empanadas accompanied with some slices of lemon on top.
