Apple Pie and Custard Recipe

Ingredients to make Apple Pie and Pastry Cream:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 1 unit of green apple
  • 1 unit of Egg
  • white sugar
  • cinnamon
  • custard cream
  • 200 milliliters of milk
  • 50 grams of icing sugar
  • 25 grams of corn starch (cornstarch)
  • 1 unit of Egg
  • 2 milliliters of vanilla essence

How to make Apple Pie and Custard:

  1. Prepare all the ingredients to make the apple pie with pastry cream. Keep in mind that we have used green apple because its acid flavor contrasts very well with the pastry cream, but if you prefer you can use any other variety of this fruit.
  2. To make the pastry cream, the first thing we must do is mix the corn starch with the icing sugar and the egg.
  3. Apart, bring the milk to the fire with the essence of vanilla until it boils.
  4. Remove the milk from the heat and add the previous preparation with cornstarch and egg to the saucepan. Beat quickly until a homogeneous mixture is obtained and bring to the heat again until it thickens. Cook over low heat for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  5. To assemble the puff pastry, stretch the dough a little and prick the entire surface except the edges with a fork. We do this so that the center does not rise and bulge. Remember that if you want to make your own puff pastry you can follow the puff pastry recipe.
  6. Add the pastry cream all over the dough except the edges.
  7. Peel and cut the apple into half-moons and arrange it on the pastry cream. Cover with white sugar and cinnamon powder. To finish, brush the edges with beaten egg and cook in the oven at 180ºC. For 10 minutes.
  8. Wait for it to cool down a bit, portion and enjoy. The apple and custard pie is an exquisite dessert perfect for sharing at coffee time
