Apple, Cheese and Walnut Salad Recipe

At home I don’t need excuses to prepare a good salad, that’s why in my Christmas menus it is a dish that always has a place. I propose a delicious recipe full of sweet and salty contrasts that will surely please your guests. It is perhaps one of my favorite recipes for these dates (and almost for any day) and the best thing is that you will have it ready in 15 minutes. Present it in bowls or individual cups and even the most reluctant to take vegetables will ask you to repeat.

Ingredients to make Apple, Cheese and Walnut Salad:

  • 250 grams of cherry tomatoes
  • 200 grams of feta cheese
  • 1 can of mackerel in oil
  • 1 handful of muscatel raisins
  • 1 large red apple
  • 1 handful of salad seeds (pumpkin, sunflower and pine nuts)
  • 6 walnuts
  • 1 pinch of dried basil
  • 1 pinch of minced garlic
  • 1 splash of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 pinch of salt

How to make Apple, Cheese and Walnut Salad:

We wash and dry the cherry tomatoes, cut them in half and put them in a large salad bowl to start preparing the Christmas apple salad with cheese and walnuts.

Next, we wash and dry the apple; we remove the core and cut it into cubes that we add to the salad bowl.

We drain the mackerel in oil, crumble it slightly and add it to the apple and tomato salad for Christmas.

Tip: You can replace the mackerel with tuna or anchovies if you prefer.

Open the walnuts and chop them lightly with your hands. We put them in the salad bowl along with a handful of salad seeds and raisins. Dress the Christmas apple salad with extra virgin olive oil, basil, salt and ground garlic and mix.

Finally, we cut the feta cheese into cubes and add it to the salad bowl. Mix again very carefully so as not to break it and serve immediately. This apple, cheese and Christmas walnut salad is perfect to accompany the traditional stuffed turkey or even cheaper Christmas recipes, such as stuffed pork loin.
