Ingredients to make American Cornbread:
- 375 grams of wheat flour
- 225 grams of corn flour
- 1 dessert spoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon bicarbonate of soda
- 110 grams of sugar
- 480 milliliters of Milk (2 cups)
- 2 units of Eggs
- 110 grams of butter or vegetable oil
- 80 grams of sweet corn kernels
- 80 grams of mozzarella cheese
How to make American Cornbread:
- The first step to make this recipe is to prepare the ingredients for the homemade cornbread.
- In a bowl, sift the flours(wheat and corn), that is, pass them through a sieve so that our cornbread dough is finer.
- Add the eggs, the oil or butter, the milk and the sugar in the bowl where we have the flours already sieved. Mix very well until the ingredients of the American breadare integrated.
- Mix very well until the ingredients of the dough are integrated; add the baking soda and a pinch of salt.
- Finally, add the corn kernels and grated mozzarella cheese, keep mixing until these ingredients are integrated.
- The important thing is the consistency of the bread and the ideal is that our dough remains in this way.
- In this case I wanted to make the loaves in individual portions, but if you prefer you can use a single large mold. Pour the homemade bread dough into the molds and place them on a baking sheet previously lined with aluminum foil. The oven should always be preheated to 190ºC and, once you notice that it is hot, bake the American bread for approximately 20 minutes.
- Remove the cornbread when done and let cool on a wire rack
- Serve the homemade cornbread; it is ideal for any occasion. In the United States it is widely consumed as an accompaniment to meals.
