Amaranth Horchata

Ingredients to make amaranth horchata:

  1. ½ liter of water
  2. ½ cup of rice
  3. 1 cinnamon stick
  4. 1½ cups of amaranth
  5. 200 milliliters of evaporated milk
  6. ½ liter of whole milk
  7. 150 grams of condensed milk
  8. ice to taste

How to make amaranth horchata:

  • Do you wonder how amaranth is prepared? To start with the amaranth horchata recipe, you must first soak the rice, amaranth and cinnamon stick in half a liter of water. Let it rest for at least 2 hours, you can also leave it overnight.
  • When the rice and amaranth have soaked, it goes to the blender together with the cinnamon. Blend approximately 3-4 minutes. Cinnamon will provide an intense, but moderate flavor. However, you can skip it.
  • Strain the mixture to get rid of any remaining rice, amaranth and cinnamon paste.
  • Return the strained mixture to the blender. Then, add the milk, the evaporated milk and the condensed milk, you must also add some ice. Blend for a couple of minutes. You can also make amaranth with vegetable milk.
  • Tip: you should know that the amaranth smoothie without milk is also delicious.
  • Serve the amaranth milk immediately. And, if you wish, you can add more ice and sprinkle a little amaranth
  • Tip: if you prefer, you can also sprinkle ground cinnamon or grated table chocolate on the surface of the horchata.
