One of the most popular fish ceviche’s in Mexico is the one made in the city of Acapulco. If you have also heard of it and are looking for the original recipe to prepare it in the comfort of your home, you have come to the right place! At this article, we teach you how to prepare the traditional and easy Acapulco-style ceviche, don’t miss it!
Ingredients to make Acapulco-style ceviche:
- ½ kilogram of saw fish in fillets
- 5 pieces of Tomatoes
- 8 pieces of Lemons
- ½ piece of Onion
- ¼ cup chopped Cilantro
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- ½ cup of chopped olives
- 1 piece of avocado
- 10 pieces of chopped capers
- 1 pinch of oregano
- 1 pinch of salt
How to make Acapulco-style ceviche:
We start the Acapulco style ceviche by cutting the fish into squares. We pass them to a deep container and add the juice of six lemons, cover and let them macerate in the refrigerator for at least six hours. After the macerating time of the fish, we drain it and reserve it. Separately, chop the onion, transfer it to a bowl and add the juice of the two remaining lemons, the olive oil, the finely chopped olives, the drained and chopped capers, the oregano and the salt.
Trick: If you want you can add chopped green chilies.
Cut the tomatoes in half, remove the seeds and chop them into small squares. Add the chopped tomatoes to the previous mixture and stir to integrate. Add the marinated fish to the ceviche and add the chopped cilantro. Mix well and serve in glasses. Finally, we add the diced avocado to the Acapulco-style fish ceviche both for decoration and to enhance the flavor. Serve it in glasses or plates adding the diced avocado.
