Chard recipe with potatoes and ham

Because with this recipe for Swiss chard with potatoes and Serrano ham or York ham I assure you that they are very tasty and they are very simple to make. Ingredients to make Chard with potatoes and ham:

  •  1 bunch of Swiss chard
  •  2 potatoes
  •  1 package of ham in tacos (Serrano or York)
  •  2 cloves of garlic
  •  1 pinch of sweet paprika (or hot if you like)
  •  1 pinch of salt
  •  1 splash of extra virgin olive oil
  •  Agua

How to make Chard with potatoes and ham:

Prepare the chard. First cut off the final stem part and separate the leaves. Then wash them one by one under running water very well to remove any residue they may have. Then, with the help of a knife, remove the fibrous threads from the leaves. Finally, cut them into medium pieces to your liking (white stems included) and reserve on a plate. Peel and cut the potatoes into pieces as well and reserve them together with the chard.

Put the chard and the cut potatoes in a pot, cover them with water and raise the heat to the maximum. When the water boils, add a pinch of salt and cook the vegetables for about 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, peel and cut the garlic into slices and put a pan with a little oil over medium heat.

When the oil is hot, add the sliced ​​garlic and when they start to brown, add the diced ham. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, until nicely browned.

Tip: You can use York or Serrano ham to make this recipe for Swiss chard with ham and potatoes since it goes well with both.

Once the vegetables are cooked, drain them well and pour them into the pan. Cook the sautéed chard with potatoes and ham for about 5 more minutes so that all the flavors are well impregnated.

At the last minute, rectify the salt if necessary (although don’t go overboard if you’ve used Serrano ham because it’s already very salty), add a pinch of paprika and sauté everything for 1 more minute to give it extra flavour.

Serve the Swiss chard with freshly made potatoes and ham.
