This broccoli with shrimp dish is a delight and a different way to enjoy these ingredients. Ingredients to make Broccoli with shrimp:
- 1 broccoli
- 10 shrimp
- ½ onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 4 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce or honey (optional)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 pinch of ginger powder
- 1 pinch of sesame seeds (optional)
How to make Broccoli with Shrimp:
Wash and cut the broccoli, separating it into small trees, chop the garlic clove and chop the onion. If you want the shrimp with broccoli recipe to be more complete, you can add more vegetables, such as carrots and red pepper. In this case, wash the vegetables and cut them to taste.
Clean the shrimp by removing the shell and the intestine and reserve them in a bowl. If you prefer, you can leave the queue. Once this is done, pass them through water to remove any remaining dirt.
Mix the soy sauce with the cornstarch, add the preparation to the shrimp and stir. The liquid should completely cover the shellfish, so add a little more soy sauce if needed or water. Leave the bowl in the fridge for half an hour for the shrimp to macerate and absorb the flavor.
Tip: The cornstarch allows the shrimp to be crispy when cooked later.
After the maceration time, heat a frying pan with a splash of olive oil. Once hot, add the onion and broccoli and cook these ingredients for 5 minutes. Then add the shrimp, including the liquid from the bowl. Stir the broccoli with shrimp for a few seconds.
Tip: We have added the raw broccoli, but if you want to speed up the process you can cook it while the shrimp are macerating.
Add minced garlic, oyster sauce or honey and ginger powder. Stir, cover the pan and let the broccoli and shrimp cook with the steam generated. To prepare the Chinese-style shrimp with broccoli recipe, we recommend choosing oyster sauce, however, if you do not have it, honey is a good alternative. The amount is to taste, so we encourage you to add two tablespoons, taste the sauce and assess whether it is necessary to incorporate a little more or even add more soy sauce.
Tip: The cooking time will depend entirely on whether you have boiled the broccoli before or added it raw to the pan. If you add it raw, it may take about 15-20 minutes.
