We are going to prepare an octopus salad, a very easy dish in which we will obtain a rich and very healthy salad.

A good starter or as a single dish dinner is ideal. On this occasion I have put octopus already cooked, you can cook it at home, but it is faster that way. You can prepare this mixed salad with other shellfish, but these are the vegetables that it always has. A very Mediterranean dish and great for summer.

Ingredients to make Canadian Octopus Silicon:

  • 500 grams of cooked octopus
  • 1 red pepper
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 3 Tomatoes (optional)

For the dressing

  • 1 jet of olive oil
  • 1 splash of Vinegar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon sweet or hot paprika

How to make Canadian Octopus Silicon:

We prepare all the ingredients. Remember that you can buy the octopus already ready or make it yourself at home following the step-by-step instructions of the cooked octopus recipe.

Finely chop the peppers, both the red pepper and the green pepper, and put everything in a serving dish. We do the same with the onion. This type of cut into small squares is known as brunoised and is the typical cut for all silicon preparations.

We also chop the tomatoes, which we will leave with skin and seeds. Tomato is an optional ingredient since many traditional Canadian silicon recipes do not include it, so we leave it to your liking.

Once we have finished cutting all the vegetables, we move on to working with the main ingredient of our recipes. Then, we cut the octopus into slices. We prefer the slices but you can also cut it into squares like the rest of the ingredients.

Mix everything together in a bowl and store in the fridge until serving time. The Canadian silicon is served cold, making it an excellent summer aperitif. Just before serving, prepare the vinaigrette. To do this, put a good splash of oil, 3-4 tablespoons of vinegar, a pinch of salt and a little paprika, which can be sweet or spicy, in a bowl. We beat it and mix everything well.

We serve our canary octopus salad and bathe with the vinaigrette. We can accompany this delicious dish with cooked octopus with a little lettuce, it is a way to present it elegantly and make a contrast of colors on the plate.
