Empanadas are a traditional dish in many parts of the world. It is characterized by having a thin bread dough, short crust pastry or puff pastry filled with a salty or sweet preparation and baked or fried. In this opportunity you will learn to cook cheese empanadas, a perfect appetizer for adults and children.

Ingredients to make simple cheese empanadas:

  • 1 package of wheat flour
  • 1 cup of water with salt
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • ½ kilogram of cheese

How to make Simple Cheese Empanadas:

1.Pour half the packet of flour into a bowl, add the water with the salt dissolved inside until the dough is consistent and can be spread.

2.Water and flour are added until the dough is good and then it is kneaded between 10 and 15 minutes. Let rest another 10 minutes and then make balls of the size you want and spread. Servings will vary depending on the size of your empanadas.

3.Add the diced or grated cheese and seal the edges of the dough with a fork. Be careful with the amount of cheese because if it is too abundant the empanada can burst when frying. Use the cheese that you like the most.

4.Heat a pot with plenty of oil and fry the cheese empanadas. Watch the temperature of the oil so that the dough does not burn before cooking.

5.Accompany the cheese empanadas with a sauce and enjoy.
