How to make Croque-Monsieur Sandwich:
To make the Croque-Monsieur sandwich we must gather all the ingredients. For this recipe we have used soft semi-cured cheese, but remember that Gruyere or Emmental cheese is originally used.
Since we have used wedge cheese, the first step is to grate the cheese. You can also buy not very fine grated cheese.
Next, we spread butter on the bread. Spread the butter only on one side of each slice. This type of bread is easy to make, we explain it to you here: homemade sliced bread.
In one of the slices, we place half of the grated cheese and the slices of cooked ham on the part that we have spread with butter. If you want to make some variation, you can use turkey breast or braised ham.
Cover the Croque-Monsieur sandwich with the other lid (place the spread on the cooked ham) and spread more butter on the top of the sandwich.
Finally, we cover the sandwich with the rest of the grated cheese and put it in the oven to gratin until the cheese melts.
