In this recipe we bring a delicious appetizer to enjoy special holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas. Asparagus wrapped in puff pastry is also a perfect side dish as it has a very sophisticated and elegant touch.
Ingredients to make Puff Pastry Wrapped Asparagus:
- 2 bunches of fresh Asparagus
- 1 pound of fresh puff pastry
- 6 units of pork ham
- 2 units of Eggs
- 1 teaspoon of butter
How to make Asparagus Wrapped in Puff Pastry:
1.Our first step in making Thanksgiving appetizers is pre-preparing the ingredients.
2.Heat a deep pot with enough water, when it is boiling add the asparagus and cook them very well for about 10 minutes. Remove and reserve.
3.Stretch the puff pastry and add a slice of pork ham. You can get puff pastry at any supermarket or if you prefer you can make it yourself following the recipe for homemade puff pastry.
4.Cut into strips as seen in the photo.
5.Wrap the asparagus at the stem with the puff pastry and ham, as shown in the photograph.
6.Cut more strips of puff pastry alone and re-wrap the asparagus as a top layer.
7.Grease a refractory and add our Christmas appetizers. If you want you can paint with beaten egg to give color and shine. Preheat the oven to 180ºC. And introduce the asparagus, cook until the puff pastry is golden.
8.Remove our easy appetizers from the oven and brush the asparagus with a little melted butter. This will give more shine and flavor since they can dry out a bit in the oven.
9.Serve our Thanksgiving appetizers and enjoy. The size of the asparagus wrapped in puff pastry can vary, if you want them smaller simply cut each asparagus in half.
