With this easy recipe you will learn how to make crispy, juicy and delicious chickpea falafel.
Ingredients to make Chickpea Falafel:
- 2 cups of raw Chickpeas
- 1 unit of Onion in pieces
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 3 tablespoons of Parsley
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon of common flour
- 1 teaspoon of baker’s yeast
- 1 pinch of salt
How to make Chickpea Falafel:
1 First of all, the chickpeas must be soaked for at least 4 hours before preparation. After this time drain well.
2 Next, take all the ingredients, except the yeast, to a food processor and grind everything until you get a dry grit. It is important that the result is not a paste, as this would make the falafel dry.
3 Take the photograph as a reference to know the grinding point. The dough for the falafel will be ready when it compacts when crushed. Reserve to rest for a few minutes.
4 Mix the dough with the yeast and form balls the size of a walnut until the dough is finished. To do this, wet your hands and squeeze each piece of dough to remove excess liquid from it, then knead and shape with the palm of your hands.
5 Fry the falafel in plenty of hot oil. Make sure that the oil is very hot when you introduce each piece, then lower the flame so that they cook without burning and finally raise the flame again to ensure that they brown evenly.
6 Finally, serve the freshly made chickpea falafel with a cold yogurt sauce such as tzatziki or raita sauce. You can also accompany with the traditional tahini sauce.
