Ingredients to make Meat Pies:

  • 500 grams of puff pastry
  • 1 piece of egg yolk
  • 400 grams of minced beef
  • 75 grams of raisins
  • 75 grams of almonds
  • 1 stick of celery
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 pieces of tomato
  • 1 piece of onion
  • 200 grams of tomato puree
  • 1 cup of heavy cream (200 milliliters)
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of butter
  • Salt
  • Pepper

How to make Meat Pies:

1.The first step to prepare the meat patties will be to finely chop the garlic and almonds, also chop the celery into slices, the tomato into small cubes and the onion into strips.

2.In a skillet over medium heat add the oil and butter, once they are hot, fry the garlic and onion.

3.When the onion turns transparent, add the raisins and chopped almonds. Sauté for three minutes and add the tomato and onion. Leave on the fire without stopping moving for three more minutes.

4.After that time add the minced meat, once it is almost completely cooked add the tomato puree. Season with salt and pepper.

5.Leave the filling of the ground beef patties on the stove over low heat and stirring constantly, until it is very dry and the meat is cooked.

6.Remove the filling from the heat and add the milk cream. Allow the filling to cool completely while you work the puff pastry.

7.Separately, grease a baking sheet with butter and cover it with wax paper. Stretch the puff pastry on a clean surface and with a round pastry cutter or with a glass, cut circles and transfer them to the tray.

8.Place a tablespoon of filling in the center of each circle.

9.Brush the edges of the circle with the beaten egg yolk with a few drops of water and cover the minced meat patties with another circle of dough.

10.Using the prongs of a fork, press down on the edges of each meatloaf to secure them together. Once they are closed, brush the ground beef patties with the remaining egg yolk. Bake for 10 minutes at 200 ºC, after that time lower the oven temperature to 180 ºC and bake for 15 more minutes or until the mince pies are well cooked and lightly baked.

Meatloaf can be served hot or cold.
