Ingredients to make Easy Roman Squid:

  • 2 units of Eggs
  • 6 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 glass of warm milk
  • 1½ glasses of Flour (275 g)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of Pepper
  • ½ envelope of Yeast type Royal
  • 500 grams of squid rings

How to make easy Roman squid:

  1. The first step to make these easy Roman style calamari is to mix the flour well with the salt, pepper and the packet of Royal yeast. A trick for the yeast to mix well with the flour: put everything in a Tupper ware container that closes well and shake it with your hands as if it were a cocktail.
  2. In a bowl we put the egg yolks and whites and reserve them for later.
  3. Add the flour and milk little by little to the egg yolks, stirring with a hand whisk.
  4. We mount the two egg whites that we had previously reserved until reaching the snow point.
  5. We add the whites to the previous preparation and integrate them very carefully, with the help of the manual rods. Let the dough rest for half an hour. This will make us have crispy and tasty Roman calamari.
  6. Cut the squid into rings, wash it and let it drain.
  7. Once it is drained, we pass the squid through flour to coat it.
  8. Then we pass it through the dough prepared in the previous steps for the batter of the squid in Roman style.
  9. In a frying pan with very hot oil, fry the squid Roman style until golden. Remember to turn them around.
  10. And ready! You can now serve the easy Roman squid recipe with a few slices of lemon.
