Ingredients to make Apple and Cream Tartlets:

  • For the mass
  • 1 unit of Egg
  • 1 unit of Yolk
  • 80 grams of cornstarch
  • 200 grams of flour
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon zest
  • 1 dessert spoon of vanilla essence
  • 80 grams of sugar
  • 90 grams of Butter
  • For the pastry cream
  • ½ liter of liquid milk
  • 2 yolks
  • 4 tablespoons of Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons of Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract

How to make Apple and Cream Tartlets:

  1. To make our apple and cream tartlets, we must begin by pouring the softened butter into a bowl together with the sugar, the egg and the yolk.
  2. Beat for 3 minutesuntil the ingredients are integrated.
  3. Remember that the butter about to be ointment should be at room temperature and a little soft.
  4. Tip: If you like crispy and short doughs, I recommend using only 2 egg yolks.
  5. Add the lemon zestand the vanilla essence to flavor the base of the homemade tartlets.
  6. Stir for a few seconds with a whisk or fork to perfume the mixture.
  7. Next, add the flour along with the cornstarch and mix with a whisk to assemble our dough.
  8. The idea is to unify the ingredientsthat will give shape to the dough for our apple and cream tartlets.
  9. Trick: If you notice the dough is somewhat sticky, add 2 teaspoons of cornstarch or whatever you see necessary until you get a smooth, non-sticky dough.
  10. Pour the contents of the bowl onto a table, previously sprinkled with flour, and knead with your handsuntil our dough is completely ready.
  11. Extend the dough and mark the flowersof our flower-shaped tartlet moulds.
  12. If you don’t have one of those molds, don’t worry, you can mark it with a knife in the dough and give the petals the shape you like best.
  13. Tip: To better calculate the size of the tartlets, you can mark the base of the flower with the source of the tartlets and then make the petals.
  14. Arrange the pieces of dough in the previously greased individual molds.
  15. Bake in a preheated oven at 180ºCfor approximately 15 minutes.
  16. Trick: I recommend you prick the dough with a fork to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.
  17. While our delicious flower-shaped tarts are baking, we can make the pastry cream.
  18. To do this, we must place all the ingredients on the cold list in a bowl or saucepan and stir until they are completely dissolved and integrated.
  19. Then, pour the mixture into a pot and bring to a low heat until the cream thickensand comes to a boil. Then turn off the heat and remove to let cool.
  20. Trick: Do not stop stirring the cream during its preparation to prevent the cornstarch from sticking to the base and burning
  21. Once our tartlets are ready, we remove them from the oven and let them cool.
  22. Then we pour the pastry cream on them along with apple slices on top. You can decorate with red apple, green, or combine both.
  23. You already have these delicious apple and cream tartletsready to accompany your tea or whatever you prefer… and if you want to give it a professional touch, decorate them with a little liquid chocolate as I did. I assure you they are super tasty and you will delight your guests with them.
