Ingredients to make Chinese Prawn Crackers:

  1. 500 grams of tapioca flour
  2. 500 grams of Prawns
  3. 1 pinch of salt
  4. 1 pinch of black pepper
  5. 1 pinch of garlic paste
  6. 1 pinch of baking powder

How to make Chinese Prawn Crackers:

  • The first step to make the prawn cracker is to prepare the ingredients. If you do not have shrimp, you can use shrimp. If you want to make this recipe completely gluten-free, use celiac-friendly baking powder.
  • Take the prawns or shrimp to a processor.
  • Add the tapioca flour(manioc or cassava) and process together with the prawns or shrimp.
  • Add salt, black pepper to taste, garlic paste, and baking powder to the Chinese bread recipe and mix the ingredients well.
  • Make a cylinder with the shrimp mass. Then, bring a deep pot with enough water over medium heat, once it reaches the boiling point add the bamboo steamer on top, place the prawn bread and cook for approximately 1 hour.
  • Remove the prawn crackers and allow cooling. Once cold, cut into slices as thin as possible and dry them in the oven at a very low temperature, until you notice that the bread shrinks a bit and the sheets become hard disks.
  • Trick: The key is to cut the slices very, very thin.
  • Take a frying pan with enough oil to fry, once hot add the slices of prawn bread. You will notice that they will inflate slightly, fry the sheets until they are golden.
  • Remove the prawn crackers to a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess fat.
  • Serve the shrimp bread as an appetizer, you can accompany it with some spicy or sweet and sour sauce and rice three delights. If you want, add a little fresh parsley on top to give an extra touch to the preparation.
