Ingredients to make sponge cake pops:
- 150 grams of milk chocolate desserts (if you don’t have milk, you can mix half dark chocolate and half white chocolate)
- 190 grams of cake (it can be madeleines, sobaos or any other that we have at home)
- 105 milliliters of condensed milk
- 1 handful of colored sugar balls
- 12 skewer sticks
How to make sponge cake pops:
- Before starting to make these sponge cake pops, you can prepare homemade muffins or a homemade Genoese sponge if you don’t have one at hand at home or buy it already made, as you prefer.
- Once we have it, we crumble the cake into several pieces and put them in a bowl together with the condensed milk. Then we mix everything well with our hands and form a big ball. We cover it with plastic wrap and let it rest in the fridge for about 2 hours.
- After that time, we take the dough for the easy cake pops and form smaller balls with our hands again. Then we put them in the freezer for about 1 hour to harden.
- Meanwhile we melt the milk chocolate in a bain-marie or in the microwave making sure that everything is well melted and then we let it temper.
- Once the sponge cake pops are frozen, we prick a skewer stick in each one and dip them carefully so as not to stain the wood in the melted chocolate.
- Finally, we sprinkle the chocolate cake pops with the colored sugar balls and put them in the fridge again for about two hours so that it hardens and everything sticks well.
- When we are going to serve the sponge cake pops, we place them in a glass as a bouquet of flowers or pierced into some large fruit such as cantaloupe melon (which is how I did it) or watermelon so that they hold well, which is like are normally served.
- Trick: We can also place colored or chocolate noodles instead of the sugar balls.
