Lyonnais or Lioness potatoes are a French recipe, their original preparation is made with butter and parsley but nowadays they are cooked all over the world and, as in many other typical recipes, some variations are allowed.

The dish is very easy to make and like many French recipes, the secret of its cooking is in the butter. So let’s go with the recipe and enjoy these garnish potatoes.

Ingredients to make Lyonnais potatoes:

  • 800 grams of potatoes
  • 2 onion
  • oil
  • 1 pinch of Salt and Pepper
  • 10 grams of Butter

How to make Lyonnais potatoes:

  1. The first step to make the famous Lyonnais potatoes will be to cut the onion into julienne strips.
  2. Heat a frying pan with a few drops of oil and put it to poach.
  3. While we wash, peel and cut the potatoes as if we were making potato omelet.
  4. Then, when we see that the onion begins to brown, we add the potatoes and season with a pinch of salt.
  5. When the potatoes are soft, carefully drain all the oil from the pan.
  6. Add the butter in pieces and salt and pepper.
  7. We put everything in a casserole and give it the last touch in the oven at medium temperature until the butter has completely melted and has been integrated into the potatoes
  8. The Lyonnais potatoes are a perfect garnish; you will become addicted to its flavor
