  • 4 tablespoons of water
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 sprig of parsley

How to make Oatmeal Lentil Burgers:

1.To start the recipe, wash the lentils very well and then place them in a pot with a liter of water, cook over medium heat and when the boiling point begins, add some bay leaves and a pinch of salt. Cover the pot and cook approximately 25 minutes or until the lentils have softened. Then, drain the water, remove the bay leaves and let cool.

2.While the cooked lentils are cooling, grind the oats until you get a kind of flour, it is not necessary to make it very fine, help yourself with a food processor or a blender.

3.To form the mix for the veggie burgers, in a bowl mix the finely chopped onion, chopped carrot, fresh parsley, salt and pepper, 2 tbsp. chia and 4 tbsp. water. You must mix all the ingredients very well and let stand approximately 10 minutes.

4.In another container, along with a masher, mash the lentils until a paste is made, then mix with the oatmeal and then add the seasoned vegetable mixture. You must mix until you get a homogeneous texture.

5.Once the mixture is ready, check that it is not too liquid, because if it is, you should add more oatmeal until it can be easily manipulated with your hands. Begin to form the homemade burgers.

6.Place the burgers on a tray with baking paper and a little spray oil, then bake at 180°C for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. You can make the hamburgers on the grill or frying pan, letting them cooks for about 6 minutes on each side, turning constantly to prevent them from burning.

7.Once the baking or roasting time has passed, you can now enjoy the hamburgers. You can accompany them with a fresh salad or if you prefer you can make one with bread. Ready to eat!
